Question the intent, not the ability

Write something that all desire

Happy ending to say the least

Try not to explore the dark side

Instead go for “love in your arms”

And “happy animals in the farms.”

No big task, as it seems

If movies can do it, why can’t I

Just make up a story filled with sorrow

But end it with tears of joy.

All those pitiful souls out there

Will look up to my work in need of inspiration

To fill their sad lives with joy

To raise their spirit and experience elation.

Then it happened, the inevitable

I start to doubt myself beyond limits

As it turns out, I failed to defend

I didn’t question my abilities, I questioned my intent.

Isn’t that what we all survive on

Difficult choice that you have fought

First impression might seem just right

But you always go with your second thought.

And second thought, it was for me

I’m not the one to elate the spirits

I’d rather be an outcast than commit this fraud

Coz I know what I’m meant to be

And it’s definitely not to play the God.

It’s true, as they all say

You have to be what you are meant to be

If voices from within tell you otherwise

You’re choosing to betray your own identity.

You can run away or move on

It’s a dreadful life and you’re caught

Your choice will depend on one single factor

Which of the options was your second thought.

As much as I may claim

I’m not a man of many thoughts

Than to try something different

I’d rather give up and flee

So it boils down to one thing

I’ve become a prisoner of my own identity.

Prisoner's Dilemma

That rebellious mood is back again

But the same two choices in front of you

Either do what you want to do

Or do what the world wants you to…

“Fuck the world”, is what you’ll say

But one more option is added to the game

What you always wanted

The world expects you to do the same…

Now who would believe you followed yourself?

Strangers taking credit in what you do

But one way out of this situation

Is to kill your wish, go for something new

Roads take you where they want

But a known path is the least you need

So you choose the sea, to get a feel

Of the times when you used to be free

Alone in the high seas, is what you feel

Go left go right, doesn’t really matter

Destination is what you have no idea about

As long as it takes you away from the crowd

‘Coz “Not Guilty” was what you pleaded

20 years was what you got

You knew you have to break the prison

‘Coz guilty was exactly what you were not

But now in the seas, you are at peace

Far from the world that gave you the pain

If the ship goes down, you go down with it

‘Coz you are just not ready… to flee again!!

Know all the rules, then make your own

They live life by the book

going by the protocol, politically correct

presence is rarely felt, not out of choice

but 'coz they lack the mass effect.

They believe the word,

have faith, if not blind

be it god, angels, devils or ghosts

nothing more to challenge, nothing more to find.

But you, with that careless walk

just as the saying goes

'don't care who rules the world'

high talks, big plans to cross the fences

proud to live life by taking chances.

You don't believe in what's told

about proved theories, you don't care

but you do believe in random thoughts

that come to your mind, out of nowhere.

Then build on it, to bring out something new

for the world to see and to accept

that those words of wisdom they relied on

are proved wrong and now they're gone

You commit yourself

to the new found cause

dreaming of success

and never ending applause

just when it seemed the work was done

you lose the track, ending in a long pause.

So close yet so far

reason for failure, as you sought

found yourself back to square one, 'coz

you were caught in another random thought.

Could not fight the new temptation

losing focus, achieving nothing

your original thought remained a mystery

satisfied with half the work done

gave up on the claims of changing history.

To prove your worth

you don't have to lose your senses

nor is it required to break the code

just use your mind, or whatever of it is left

to know all the rules, then make your own.
